Born In the Heat of Savannah In Late October

Here at The Garden of Good and Hot we are cultivating curious and delicious flavor combinations. Our signature sauce was developed after several years of experimenting with various West African Peri Peri sauce recipes. Milder in heat, some other traditions were broken, including the substitution of the Mexican Chili de Arbol for the Peri Peri, or Birdseye chili. Our Bonaventure Ghost sauce features the addition of fermented Ghost chilis for a bit more heat. Look for more mouth watering concoctions to bloom for our garden in the near future.

It has been said that music is food for the soul. For the good folks who are lucky enough to live in Savannah Georgia, this is one of the great truths in his life. But our founder, Phillip Polk Palmer, understands that there is something even more compelling, more primal and more soul stirring than music, and that is food itself. Food, glorious food has been a salve for sad times, a way to bring joy, a setting for enjoying the company of others, and one of the most potent expressions of love ever imagined.

Palmer’s upbringing and early life was punctuated by both music and a busy kitchen, which often produced his father’s beloved spicy food. His childhood home was awash in extrasensory experiences as the savory and spice-laded scents wafting in from the kitchen like ghosts dancing to the sounds of strumming guitars, plunking piano chords, and a chorus of melodious voices singing praises of the cook.

Enjoy the warmth and spirited goodness of the night in the Deep South in The Garden of Good and Hot.
